Aroll’Live, Music in Arolla

A stage at 2,000 metres, a stone-pine forest and the peaks of the Val d’Hérens as a backdrop. With Aroll’Live, the Grand Hôtel & Kurhaus brings live music to the high mountains.

Garden of the Grand Hôtel & Kurhaus in summer, facing the stone-pine forest and the peaks

Picture a stage set up at 2,000 metres, a stone-pine forest all around, and the line of the Val d’Hérens peaks on the horizon. This is the setting for Aroll’Live, the musical gathering launched by the Grand Hôtel & Kurhaus to make the high mountains pulse to the rhythm of live music.

A concert beneath the stone pines

The first edition brought together several acts in a dub and live atmosphere, from mid-afternoon into the evening. On stage came HERMIT, SUMAC DUB and RAKOON, before a garden turned into an open-air dance floor. Bar and food on site, with the mountains for a ceiling.

The party, and then the night

Because an evening at altitude tends to stretch into the next day, the hotel offered festival-goers the chance to stay over, on presentation of their ticket. What could be better, after the final set, than to head to bed a few metres from the stage, and to wake up facing the glaciers?

A gathering to follow

Aroll’Live is part of the way we like to bring the hotel to life in summer: opening the doors, mingling locals, seasonal workers and travellers, and making Arolla far more than a stopover. For the next dates and line-up, the best thing is to contact us directly at the reception.
