Some distinctions say a great deal about a house. The Grand Hôtel & Kurhaus was the very first hotel in the world to receive the “Safety & Hygiene Protocol” certificate from the Lausanne Hotel School (EHL) — one of the most prestigious hospitality schools in the world.

A protocol, a standard

Beyond its name, this protocol reflects a commitment: to guarantee every guest a safe and serene stay, and to provide the assurance that the establishment’s standards live up to its history. Bringing it together around criteria verified by EHL means rooting hospitality in something measurable.

The first in the world

Being the first establishment to obtain this certification is no small thing. For a family-run mountain hotel, a member of the Swiss Historic Hotels, it is recognition that excellence in service does not depend on the size of a house, but on the dedication of its team. A source of pride we were keen to share.

In the service of the Valais

We received this distinction as an encouragement to fly the colours of the Valais and the Val d’Hérens high. It confirms a simple conviction: at 2,000 metres, authenticity and high standards are not mutually exclusive — they reinforce one another. It is in this spirit that we welcome our guests, season after season.
